How to begin moving when your body feels stiff

When your body feels stiff, begin with comfortable, low-intensity movement and give yourself permission to stop or adjust at any point.

Start below your limit

Choose an easy range of motion: a slow shoulder roll, a supported seated twist or a short walk. Aim for a sensation of movement, not a stretch you have to push through.

Build gradually. Regular movement can be part of a healthy routine, but the right starting point varies from person to person.

Know when not to push through

Stop and seek appropriate professional guidance for acute pain, numbness, weakness, dizziness, a recent injury or surgery, or symptoms that feel new or severe.

DESK RESET and START YOGA use beginner-friendly variations, but neither replaces assessment or rehabilitation from a qualified clinician.
